Mid Terrace Dream on RIBA London Awards 2025 Shortlist

It’s been announced that our Mid Terrace Dream North London retrofit is on the RIBA London Awards 2025 shortlist.

For architects like us, the RIBA Awards are an annual summary of what is good in British Architecture.  They ask for a lot of information – especially sustainability information – which includes data on how the project has performed in its first year of life and they always ask for some words from the client.  To be shortlisted, projects are scrutinised for quality, sustainability and how they meet their brief.

A panel of judges – a mixture of architects and lay judges, including specialists on historic buildings, architectural sustainability, social justice in design – visit all the shortlisted projects. The judges spend an hour at the project with the client and the architect,  asking questions, looking around, and getting a sense for the project.

It’s a great experience to be part of, and we are looking forward to visiting Mid Terrace Dream with the RIBA London judges in March.

Mid Terrace Dream is a family home, conceived to be healthy, comfortable and energy efficient. Our brief was to create a home for our client’s future, that would go hand in hand with a low carbon future for the planet. Taking inspiration from their mediterranean and Scandinavian heritage, we have extended and renovated the dilapidated Victorian terrace as a contemporary home that will adapt to their changing family lifestyles. Our low carbon deep retrofit takes a Passivhaus approach to building performance  to go beyond regulations in terms of thermal performance, airtightness and operational energy use. The result is a home with no energy bills that is ready for the next phase of its life.
