Running for social value

Alasdair and Siri – supported at the finish line by Jenny Gnadl – laced up their running shoes this weekend and took part in the OCO Connect Fun Run in Brockwell Park. There were no PB’s this time though, as the run was all about bringing people together to deliver meaningful social value in Lambeth.

OCO Connect CIC is the social value delivery arm of London M&E contractors, OCO Ltd. They focus on three areas – working on community buildings, engaging with health and wellbeing and giving training to young people in order to better deliver their social value commitments: with impact and with purpose. They are also working to help the wider sector deliver their social value commitments more effectively.

For this 5k run OCO Connect and Lambeth Council gathered contractors, suppliers, Councillors, community advocates and Lambeth locals to a fun-run celebrating collaboration over competition and all things social value. The

We really enjoyed taking part and connecting with people passionate about social value creation in local communities, the challenges and opportunities with retrofit at scale and how social value requirements can be part of the solution, and an introduction to Mureen’s delicious jerk chicken.
