We at Collective Works believe in community – which is why we volunteered last week to take part in the Inspiring Young Men Event 2017 by @studentsunionucl and @YoungHackney, the Council’s Early Help and Prevention service for young people in the borough. Young Hackney works to ensure that all young people in Hackney enjoy their childhood and adolescent and are supported in making a transition to an independent and successful adulthood.
The event brings together young men from Hackney schools (year 9 and 10) with male professionals and entrepreneurs from different backgrounds and sectors. As volunteers we share their stories and insights as well as offering informal advice to inspire participants to broaden their horizons and career aspirations.
What a worthwhile event this was with some very inspiring key note speakers and eager students. We were naturally really pleased to have met a student with aspirations to become an architect so we shared our insights on what was involved.
